cheering myself up

uuhh
I have the lurgy
just a head cold & a sore throat, nothing serious
but I generally feel yuck

looking at my new polka dot felt is helping though :-)
***edited on Tuesday***
the amazing polka dot felt is from Hobbycraft, I can't find it in their online shop but it's always worth a trip there :-)
this time round John was nearby & even though he told me he'd be WAY too busy to go ...he telephoned and said "I'm in hobbycraft, standing in front of the felt, what do you want?"
He's great isn't he?

corduroy

before I went away I bought some new corduroy

... but I completely ran out of sewing time which left a pile of halfmade bags on my sewing table...I finished them off yesterday!
If the weather agrees I will be spending Wednesday photographing them properly....but I think sneaky peeks look nice !!

off on our travels

John and I are officially on holiday!

I've put notices in my shops to let people know ... we are only gone for a few days so any orders will be posted on Monday, which isn't too bad.

I'm going to miss going to my workshop all day long but I am looking forward to spending some time relaxing and not being a busy bee!

That said , I do have a nice pile of sewing to take with me, just in case I have a few spare minutes!

picture 1. piles of stationery, printed, cut and folded.
picture 2. a special order for my friend Nia, it's on it's way Nia :-)
picture 3. piles of felt in pretty colour combinations, all in my Etsy shop
picture 4. a treasure I found when tidying the other day
picture 5. pride of place on the wall above my overlocker
picture 6. close up, look at the cheeky one on the left hand side!!

see you soon xxx

shifting

I've got some days off the day job, as usual with days off I'm trying to cram a lot in, lots of workshop time, a little time away, lots of sewing & lots of relaxing.
I've spent the last three days at my workshop, working hard and finishing moving in (I'm still not all done!)
I dumped the latest car load on the floor and had no idea where to put it!!
So what to do?
Move lots of things around of course....from this :
to this ::
and from this ::
to this ::
and there's still a bit of room for even more!

makes a change

My local fabric shop is disappointing.
The staff are rude, the choice is poor and the prices are much higher than online shops.
BUT ... it is very near the Post Office. And we all know how often I go to the Post Office!

So imagine my surprise when I bought these reasonably priced, gorgeous fabrics from an almost friendly shop assistant (almost friendly means no smile, answering the phone half way through serving me and folding my lovely bundles really badly!)

All that is irrelevant though because I got Corduroy.
And polka dots.
:-)

change of season

a sneaky peek ::

a lot of blog posts I'm reading are all mentioning the change of season (I joined in a few days ago!) and even though today has been a glorious sunny, blue sky day, it's time to share some new Christmas ideas!
Bright and cheerful Christmas stockings ready to hang for Santa to fill :-)

They will be in my shops, but now until the end of September, so I haven't gone completely Christmas crazy (yet!!)

september freebie

I LOVE this time of year.
When you need to add an extra layer in the evenings.

And what better way to brighten up autumn clothes than with a really colourful brooch?
The fabric circle is machine stitched & embroidered on to felt, then the layers are blanket stitched together by hand, and stuffed with a little fluff to add a bit of oomph!

September 2009's freebie is the chance to win one of three colourful brooches.
3 prizes. 3 winners. 3 happy autumn jackets ;-)
To enter simply leave a comment on this post and I will pick 3 winners (via the random number generator) on Sunday 6th September.
*rules:
*1 entry per person please
*worldwide entries more than welcome
*freebie comments don't need to say anything special, just say hi if you don't know what to say :-)
