signs

we've got a new stand to use at the pop-up shop (it came free with the new vinyl a few weeks ago - it's bloomin' useless for the barn but FAB for the shop!) the 'header' it came with was just printed card so I got my craft on and made this:
(no prizes for guessing what we shall put on the stand!)
It's corrugated card (the inside of a sold-out bolt of fabric) cut to size with fabric wrapped around...
the felt letters are attached with Bonda Web and the loopy flowers are stuck with a blob of felt glue ...
I rather like it :-)
oh, and I'll show you the actual stand once it's all put together again at the weekend!

handmade at the shop

I'm stitching a lot at the moment - for orders and for stock for the pop-up shop....we've been figuring out how to display them and I think a combination of Dining Table & 3 old drawers might have solved the problem!
Still more to do but I think this may work....

freezer paper - new lower price

Freezer paper is fantabulous
and it just got even better because I have found a new supplier which means the price has dropped - a 50sq foot roll was £8.80 and now it is just £4.40 - exactly half price!
marvellous :-)
I still have some original stock of the larger rolls left and have put them in the sale - I shan't be restocking them - but the new cheaper 50sq foot rolls are here to stay!
freezer paper is on the website HERE
and if you missed the launch of this and don't know what freezer paper is for then you need to read THIS or THIS

Handmade is BACK!

I am SO excited to share my new handmade range with you:
It's called Happy Weather - there are Fluffy Clouds, Rainbows, Sunshine, Stormy Clouds and Raindrops - and they are all available individually so you can create the perfect look for the space you have :-)
I thoroughly enjoyed making these - I spent HOURS choosing the combinations of felt, glitter, ribbons and buttons - and even more hours stitching them all together by hand (it's my favourite way to sew)
They are all listed on my website HERE if you want to take a closer look :-)

A Busy Saturday

This morning we got to the pop-up shop bright & early and re-jigged the layout of our ribbon display.  I added blackboard signs to the spool display to make it easier to see what is there, and I used wire and wooden pegs to make a display for the cut lengths of ribbon - the ribbons were in a basket for people to rummage through before but it was hard to see what was in there so I'm trying this out!
This afternoon I have added a whole lot of loveliness to the website - millions of felt balls - perfect for garland making....
 lots....
...and lots of new fabrics ....
...new rolls of my favourite, super-colourful, embroidered ribbons have been added to my collection - this ribbon really is proof of the adage of you get what you pay for.  Yes, it's a little bit pricier than all my other ribbon but, boy is it worth it!
And last, but not least, I added faux leather (vinyl) and faux suede to our selection of fabrics....a great way to add some different textures to your crafty projects :-)

Die Cutting

I have spent most of the afternoon Die Cutting :-)
Lots and Lots of sets of stars and circles, in 3 different sizes, it's fun trying to imagine what these will be turned into once my customer works her crafty magic on them :-)
Next on the list?  Cutting out some actual sewing  -  there hasn't been a lot of sewing going on around these parts but I am making up for it now - and I can't wait to show you what I've been doing   :-)

Fabric Corner

Our Pop-Up shop has been open for *nearly* 2 weeks - it's going well and I'm really pleased with it - John and I have been going in for a tidy round & fill-up every other day....we weren't sure what products would be a hit and so far I'm still not sure, but I have decided I need to change the displays around and group all the same kind of items together, rather than spread them round the small space.

This morning I put the finishing touches to Fabric Corner....I filled some hoops with some of my favourite fabrics and have displayed them in an old drawer that's propped up against the lovely stone wall. Then I added all my neatly folded fat quarters to the shelves and little drawers. Hopefully it will be easier for customers to see what's there and maybe get inspired to make something
The next display on my re-jig list is the Ribbon Section.....

Help Wanted!

This little pile of felt squares is the result of 3 months or so of emailing and sample sending back & forth to our felt manufacturer .... we now have a grand total of 22 new colours in sample format for us to narrow down - and I am stuck!!  Which ones would you pick?
We will be keeping our existing 46 colours and adding to them ..... I'd love to know which you would like added :-)
(and to all of you that say all of them you're no help at all because that is what I am currently thinking!)

oh, hello!

Are you sitting comfortably?  there's a lot to catch up on since my last post!....
Our pop up shop is open!
It's in an historic industrial building called The Customs House which has been opened up to around 200 traders to sell their wares.
There are all sorts of fabulous things for sale ... from fresh bread from a local bakery to antique furniture, and all sorts of things in between.
It's exciting to have an outlet for people to visit - I'm not there very often...but I have tried to nip in every day to have a tidy up and replenish stocks....luckily it is very near our house so there's not far to travel!
The Customs House has a FB page here and a website here if you would like to know more :-)
I promise I won't just post on Facebook this week ;-)
